Namaste! Good Morning from Nepal!
After the better part of two days of travel, I arrived here last night greeted by my VSN and EWH colleagues. It was nice to walk a little after essentially only eating and sleeping for days (in case you ever fly with them, Emirates feeds its international customers a lot- don't bring extra snacks).
I was warned about the temperature at night and glad for the warning- it got cold. It would likely have been better had I realized that my windows weren't locked and opened during the course of the night making it even colder...
These first few days are all the critical language and cultural lessons to help us be more successful in our placements next. Also, tours around Kathmandu so we can attempt to practice what we learn with some help before we're off to our placement hospitals. A few world heritage sights including the Buddhist stupa of Boudhannath. Once we've dived into culture and can navigate our way around a restaurant and market, it's off to Damauli!
